Captain Bob Green was born in Los Angeles, California in 1959. He was educated locally and attended California State University at Long Beach, and Loyola Marymount University. In addition he has successfully completed the West Point Leadership Program and the Supervisory Leadership Institute sponsored by the California Department of Justice, Police Officers Standards and Training.
Captain Green began his career with the Los Angeles Police Department as a law enforcement explorer at the Venice Area of the Los Angeles Police Department in1975. He became a Police Student Worker in 1978 and entered the Police Academy in February 1980. His assignments as a police officer included 77th Street Area, Jail Division, Administrative Narcotics Division, Hollywood Area and Metropolitan Division Swat.
He was promoted to Sergeant in 1987. In addition to his patrol duties as a field supervisor at 77th Street Area, Captain Green also was assigned as a Gang and Decoy Unit Supervisor in Operations South Bureau, a Canine Unit and Crime Suppression Platoon supervisor in Metropolitan Division and a Sergeant/pilot at Air Support Division.
Captain Green was promoted to Lieutenant in 1999 and was assigned to Rampart Area as a Watch Commander. His lieutenant experience in specialized units includes Watch Commander/pilot at Air Support Division, the Officer in Charge of the Department's Underwater Dive Unit, and Hazardous Device Section of Emergency Services Division. The Hazardous Device Section includes the Bomb Squad, Hazardous Materials Unit and Bomb Detection Canine Unit.
In October 2004, Captain Green was promoted to Captain and was assigned as a Patrol Commanding Officer. His commands included Mission Area and Devonshire Area Patrol Divisions. He was responsible for leading the activities of sworn and civilian personnel who were actively involved in reducing crime and ensuring public safety in two areas of the San Fernando Valley.
In November of 2005 Captain Green was promoted to Captain II and assigned as the Commanding Officer of LAX, Field Services Division. He is responsible the leadership and direction of the Los Angeles Police officers assigned to Los Angeles International Airport. This command is responsible for the safety of the traveling public, crime and terrorism prevention.
Bob and his wife Jean are the parents of six children. |
