Detectives Reach Out to Help Solve Tragic Hit-and-Run Incident Victim Was Only 18 Years Old NA12256rf

What:
A news conference to raise public awareness and assistance to help locate the suspect(s) responsible for a fatal hit-and-run incident that took the life of 18-year-old Miguel Mendez.

When:
Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012
9 a.m.

Corner of Century Boulevard and 101st Street (incident location)
Los Angeles 90047

LAPD Captain Brian Johnson, South Traffic Division (STD) Commanding Officer
LAPD Detective Jimmy Render, South Traffic Division
LAPD South Traffic Division Officers
Victim’s Family Members

Why:
To aid in the investigation concerning the hit-and-run death of Mendez, as STD detectives have not been successful in identifying those responsible for this appalling crime. The incident occurred on Nov. 17 of this year about 7 p.m. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a late-model minivan last seen heading south on Broadway from Century Boulevard. The victim was merely crossing the road when he was hit, after which the driver failed to stop or render aid as required by law.
