Two Young Men Shot; One dies in South LA

Los Angeles: On Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at about 7:40 p.m., a 17 year-old male was driving a four-door blue Chevy Nova northbound on Western Avenue approaching Florence Avenue with two friends. Three young male Black suspects in a black car, which was traveling in the same direction, fired numerous rounds into the Nova. Both passengers in his vehicle, 17 year-old Douglas Watson and a 16 year-old male, received gunshot wounds.
Watson and the 16 year-old were taken to a local hospital. The 16 year-old was treated for a minor gunshot wound and was released, but Watson died due to his injuries on the next day.
A 53 year-old male who was also traveling northbound in his vehicle, a beige Toyota Camry, sustained a gunshot wound. He drove himself to a local hospital where he was treated for minor gunshot wound. He is listed in stable condition.
The motive is unknown.
The suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding.
