"Drive-by Leaves One Dead"

Los Angeles – On Tuesday, October 31, 2000, at approximately 10:35 P.M, the victim, Mark Bostic, a male Black, 45 years old, was seated in the driver side of his parked car. He was parked on the south side of 73rd Street, in the 500 block of 73rd Street. Bostic was talking to a friend, a male Black, 35 years old who was standing on the street alongside of the passenger side of Bostic’s car. An unknown suspect(s) in a beige car, drove-up to them, stopped and exchanged words with Bostic. The suspect without warning, fired multiple rounds at Bostic and his friend.

Bostic sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso and head and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The second victim also received numerous gunshots to the torso and was transported by a Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Ambulance unit to a local hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries. He is listed in critical condition. The suspect(s) were last seen driving away westbound on 73rd Street toward Hoover Avenue.

The motive is unknown, and the weapon and suspect(s) remain outstanding.
