WHY:
A partnership of the Weingart Foundation and the Los Angeles Police Foundation provided a grant to the LAPD for the purchase of 150 police bicycles. The bicycles will enable officers to focus on crime suppression, patrol, curfew and and truancy sweeps. The bikes will be used as an outreach mechanism, attracting youth to productive and safe programs.
