The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) are collaborating for an externship to expose current and former NFL Players to a career with the Los Angeles Police Department. This is the second LAPD/NFLPA Externship, which will be five days, beginning on February 25, 2019 through March 1, 2019.

The NFL Players Association is committed to ensuring the success of all current and former members in life's endeavors and this externship allows the NFLPA to expose its members to the opportunities and challenges that policing the nations' second largest City offers.

The Los Angeles Police Department prides itself on forming the strongest community partnerships and working with the diverse communities across the City to protect and serve everyone within the City. This externship offers the LAPD the opportunity to highlight some of the training and methods that are currently being implemented by the LAPD.

The NFLPA members will learn how police officers are working with the community to reduce crime, address mental illness, combat homelessness, form lasting community partnerships, the efforts of the Community Partnership Program, and the importance of constitutional policing. Additionally, the NFLPA members will see the air support operations, walk foot beats with officers, and meet members of the Department youth programs.
