Newborn Baby Found Dead in Trash Dumpster

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT

Monday, April 26, 1999


On Sunday, April 25, 1999, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a transient discovered the lifeless body of a newborn girl while sifting through a trash dumpster located in an alley near the intersection of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Kittridge Street in North Hollywood. This person immediately called 9-1-1 and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers and paramedics responded to the scene. The paramedics pronounced death and detectives from LAPD's Abused Child Unit assumed the investigative responsibilities.

The Coroner's office will conduct an examination to determine the cause of death.
