Possible Arson Fire Claims One Life

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Sunday, April 2, 2000

."Possible Arson Structure Fire Claims One 51 Year-Old Male"

Los Angeles--On Sunday, April 2, 2000, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Officers from 77th Street Area Community Police Station responded to the rear of 1441 West 57th Street, Los Angeles, for a Death Investigation call. Upon their arrival, they met Los Angeles Fire Department Personnel who had also responded. The officers were advised that the victim, Perry Molles (51 years old) had been pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m. Molles had been found near his bed after firemen extinguished a structure fire at the location. Based on what the officers saw at the scene, a crime scene was established and Detectives from 77th Street Homicide responded. A Los Angeles Fire Department Arson Investigator also responded. Preliminary investigations suggest that the cause of the fire and Mr. Molles' death might be accidental.

77th Street Homicide Detectives Armando Bernal and Robert Solorza are conducting the investigation. Anyone with information concerning this incident is requested to call 77th Street Homicide Detectives at 213-485-1383 or the 77th Street Area Community Police Station Watch Commander at
