Wednesday, April 19, 2000



"One Victim Dead, One Wounded in Shooting"

Los Angeles - On Wednesday, April 19, 2000, between 3:45 and 4:00 p.m., victims #1 and #2 were in the parking lot of the Slauson Swap Meet, located at 1600 W. Slauson Avenue, when unknown suspect(s) shot at them. Victim #1 sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He was pronounced dead at scene. Victim #2 sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and face. He was transported to Martin Luther King (MLK) Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

The motive for this incident has not been established. The shooting does appear to be gang-related.

Homicide Detectives from 77th Street Area Division are conducting the investigation. Anyone with information concerning this incident is requested to call 77th Street Homicide Detectives at 213-485-1659 or 77th Street Watch Commander, 213-485-2389.

Victim #1 is described as a 29 year-old Male, Black. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Victim #2 is described as a 24 year-old Male, Black. His name has not been released at this time for safety reasons.
