"Stray Bullet Strikes Innocent Victim"

Los Angeles - On Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at approximately 10:30 PM, a 42 year-old female Black was seated on a bench located on the southwest corner of 1st Street and Anderson Street when she was struck by gunfire. Hollenbeck Detectives have learned during the investigation that two rival gangs were shooting at each other in the area and a stray bullet struck the victim during the gun battle. The victim was not the intended target nor was she involved in the dispute between the rival gangs.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. On April 27, 2000 at 3:50 AM, the victim died due to her injuries.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
