Man Shot to Death in His Truck as He Prepares For Work

"Man Shot to Death In His Pick-Up Truck As He Prepares To Go To Work"

Los Angeles-- On Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at approximately 6:35 AM, residents on the 1000 block of North Hyperion Avenue heard several shots fired in the street. When they went to the street to investigate they discovered Jose Meza Guerrero, a male Hispanic, 52 years of age, inside his pick-up truck suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The fire department and the police department were summoned, and Guerrero was transported by rescue ambulance to Hollywood Presbyterian/ Queen of Angeles Hospital. Guerrero succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Upon further investigation, Rampart Detectives discovered that Guerrero had gone to his truck in the morning to warm the engine before leaving for work. As Guerrero started the engine and began to heat his car, he was confronted by an unknown number of suspect(s) and shot several times.
