Victim Fatally Shot While Walking Home

Saturday, April 22, 2000



"Victim Shot While Walking Home"

Los Angeles - On Friday, April 21, 2000 at approximately 10:00 pm., the victim, John Edward Maddox, and a relative were walking to the victim's residence in the 3900 block Rosalia Drive. The suspects drove up in their vehicle, called out a gang name, and one suspects began shooting, striking victim Maddox. The suspects fled from the scene in their vehicle. Mr. Maddox was transported to a local hospital , where he failed to respond to medical treatment. He died as the result of his injures. The relative with Maddox was not injured and his name is not available for release. Maddox was celebrating his 21st birthday.

The suspects in this homicide are described as two or three male, Blacks (NFD.)

The suspect's vehicle was a 2 door, newer model Buick, gray in color.

The motive appears to be Gang Related.

The investigation is being conducted by LAPD Southwest Area Homicide Detectives Rick Gordon and Regina Nares. Anyone with information, may contact Detectives at 213-485-7552.
