Help Requested on Hit and Run Investigation

Monday, April 10, 2000


Los Angeles - On Sunday, April 9, 2000, at 11:20 a.m., a fatal Hit and Run traffic collision occurred on Slauson Avenue and Crenshaw Blvd, in 77th Division.

The Hit and Run driver was traveling Westbound on Slauson Avenue and struck a pedestrian, describes as female, black, 20 years of age, who was crossing Northbound on Slauson Avenue. After the collision, the Hit and Run Driver failed to stop, identify him/her self and render aid as required by law. The victim was transported to Martin Luther King Hospital where she later died as a result of this collision.

The Hit and Run vehicle was described as a Ford Expedition. The driver was last seen travelling W/B on Slauson Avenue or possibly Northbound Victoria Avenue.

The Los Angeles Police Department is requesting the public help in locating the Hit and Run driver in this case. Anyone with information please call South Traffic Division Detectives at 323 290-6063 from 7-4:30 M-F and speak with Detective Henderson or Officer Gryder. After hours the South Traffic W/C can be contacted at 213 485-7336 (24 hours).
