15 Year-Old Boy Shot to Death
Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are
investigating the shooting death of a male Hispanic, 15 years of age.
On Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Rampart patrol
officers responded to an ambulance assault investigation in the 1000 block
of west 17th Street. Upon arrival, officers observed the victim
down on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Los
Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported the victim to
USC Medical Center, where he died from his injury.
The investigation revealed that the victim left his residence and walked
down the street to visit a friend. According to witnesses, approximately
three gunshots were heard. The victim was able to summon help from a
neighbor who called police and paramedics. There were no suspects or vehicle
seen fleeing the location.
The suspects and the weapon are outstanding. The motive for the shooting
is unknown. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending
notification of the family.
