" Suspect Shoots Clerk and is Caught Only on Camera"
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Area
Robbery Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a gunman who
brazenly shot a Los Angeles convenience store clerk-while being video taped
on the store’s security cameras.
On April 19, 2003, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a male Black gunman walked
into a liquor store located on Sepulveda Boulevard in Sherman Oaks. The
suspect pulled out a handgun and after shouting obscenities at the clerk,
fired several shots at the victim, two of which struck the cashier in the
neck and shoulder. The suspect then ran out of the store firing gunshots at
the cowering victim as he fell behind the store’s counter. The clerk
survived the attack. Nothing was taken from the store and no one else was
injured.
The suspect’s rampage in the store, and the shooting of the convenience
store clerk are captured on videotape and is available to the media. A
photo of the suspect (on disc) is also available through the LAPD Media
Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
