Sobriety Check Point Scheduled

Los Angeles: Beginning on Friday, April 16, 2004, at 6:00 p.m., through 1:00 a.m. of the following morning, officers from the South Traffic Division of the Los Angeles Police Department will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint Operation in the southern area of the City. The checkpoint will be located in the Harbor Area, on Avalon Boulevard between "L" and "M" Streets. The checkpoint will be set up to screen drivers northbound on Avalon Boulevard.

This operation will be conducted in an effort to reduce injuries, deaths, and property damage caused by intoxicated drivers.

Sergeant Roy Van Dyne, South Traffic Division will be in charge of the checkpoint operation, which will include 14 officers and two traffic sergeants.
