Multiple Victims Shooting Results In One Death

Los Angeles: On April 28, 2004, at 8:40 p.m., North Hollywood patrol officers responded to a "Shots Fired" call at the 12700 block of Sherman Way. When the officers arrived at the front parking lot of a business, they found two men who had been shot several times. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the emergency call and transported the victims to a local hospital.

One of the victims died as a result of his injuries. He has been identifies as 19 year old Richard Ybarra. The second victim survived the attack and is recovering. His identity is not being released.

The investigation revealed the victims had been shopping at a nearby grocery store when they were confronted by two male suspects as they left the store. At some point of the confrontation the suspects armed themselves with hand-guns and shot the victims. The suspects, described only as Hispanics, ran away after the shooting. Detectives recovered one of the guns used in the attack. The motive appears to be gang related. No arrests have been made.

Anyone who has information that can assist in this investigation is urged to call North Hollywood Detectives at 818-623-4045. During off-hours and on week-ends call the 24-hour, toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
