Gang Shooting Leaves One Dead and Two Injured

Los Angeles: On April 10, 2005 at about 7:30 a.m. Newton officers responded to a "shots fired" call in the 1100 block of east 56th Street. When they arrived officers found a 36 year-old black male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The officers also observed two female black victims with gunshot wounds, one sustained a wound to the leg and the other to the foot.

The male victim was transported by ambulance to California Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The female victims were transported to area hospitals and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

All victim's information is being withheld pending notification to their families.

This appears to be a gang related shooting although no motive is known at this time and no suspects have been identified.

Anyone with information is asked to call Newton Area Detectives. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
