Two Teens Die In Collision With Pole

Los Angeles: Two teenage girls died when their 2001 Toyota Avalon hit a utility pole on Coldwater Canyon Boulevard last night, April 18, 2005.

The collision occurred at 9:05 p.m. when the car, driven by a 17-year-old girl, swerved into the left-turn lane and struck a pole. The driver's 16-year-old passenger was also killed. Both girls died at the scene.

A third teenage passenger in the back seat was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and treated for leg fractures. She has been released from the hospital.

All names are being withheld pending notification to the families.

Speed appeared to be a factor in the collision.

No criminal charges are expected.
