Birthday Party Turns Deadly

 

Los Angeles: Saturday night, a young man was shot and killed at a Quincea ñ era in Reseda.

On April 23, 2005 at about 11:30 p.m., the victim, Roger Ramirez, was at a 15-year old girl's birthday party at the Reseda Women's Club Banquet Hall at 7901 Lindley Avenue. Among the more that 200 attendees at the party were several members from a local street gang. When a fight broke out between Ramirez and one of the gang members, the suspect pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired several shots, ultimately killing Ramirez and injuring a second victim. The suspect left the location.

Ramirez, a 17-year-old resident of Reseda, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and back. He was transported to Northridge Hospital where he died from his wounds.

The second victim, a 20-year-old male, was transported to an area hospital where he was admitted in critical condition with a single gunshot wound to the back. His condition has since been upgraded to stable and he is expected to survive.

There is no suspect in custody.
