Passing of Chief Ed Davis
Los Angeles: "Ed Davis was a dynamic leader in law enforcement. An innovator and no nonsense Chief, Davis contributed a great deal to the leadership and management principals of the LAPD, created many successful crime fighting programs and implemented the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation to help families of police officers killed in the line of duty," said Chief William J. Bratton.
Chief Davis was one of the first police leaders in the country to understand the true value of community relations, and building community-police partnerships. The Department's Edward M. Davis Training Facility in Granada Hills proudly bears his name. Chief Davis will long be remembered and honored by the men and women of the LAPD.
