Media Arrangements for Memorial Service to Honor LAPD SWAT Officer Robert Cottle

What:    
A nondenominational, secular memorial service and honors ceremony for SWAT Officer Robert “RJ” Cottle who was recently killed while on active military duty in Afghanistan.

When:
April 13, 2010
9:30 a.m.- Private service commences inside cathedral
Honors ceremony immediately follows service outdoors in cathedral plaza

Details:
The walking procession will proceed from the plaza of the LAPD Administration Building at 100 W. First Street at 8:45 a.m.  Only family members and selected individuals may participate in the procession.

To assist the media, LAPD public information officers will be on-hand at the PAB plaza area and the cathedral. Only a pool television crew coordinated by the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California (and a still photographer) will be allowed inside the cathedral for the funeral service.  Media may cover the funeral service and honors ceremony from a designated media riser on the cathedral plaza or from the south side of Temple Street across from the cathedral.

Media parking at the cathedral will be available along the south side of Temple Street between Hill Street and Grand Avenue.
