Man fatally shot; another wounded by gunfire at a Housing Development NR121160wr

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Hollenbeck Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing information that would lead to the identification and arrest of a suspect who shot and killed 28-year-old Ricardo Orozco and wounded his 26-year-old relative.

On April 3, 2012, around 10 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call at Pico Gardens Housing Development. When the officers arrived they learned the two victims of the shooting had been transported to a local hospital by private vehicles. Ricardo Orozco was pronounced dead at the hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds.  The second victim was treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and listed in stable condition.

Both victims are non-residents of the public housing development where they were shot. The motive for this shooting appears to be gang related.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact Hollenbeck Homicide Detective Kirkland at 323-342-8953 or Detective Garcia at 323-342-8996. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
