WHY: Ford Corporation is committed to being a leader in the development and use of electrified vehicles. The City of Los Angeles has also dedicated itself to explore and utilize alternative uses of fuel. Under the direction of LAPD Chief Charlie Beck, the Los Angeles Police Department is actively investing in the future of transportation. “Our mission for creating safe and healthy communities in Los Angeles,” said Chief Beck,”is achieved through sustainable approaches towards community policing, and that includes embracing new technologies. The patrol vehicle is a police officer’s office and the LAPD expects that policing tool to not only be economically and environmentally efficient, but also an effective tool for fighting crime in a major metropolitan area.”
