Fatal Shooting NR20089ml

Panorama City: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide Division are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for the shooting death of a man.

On April 27, 2020, at 7:10 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department officers from Mission Area responded to a shots fired radio call at the 14600 block of Blythe Street. The victim was identified as Jose Gamiz De Leon.

Officers learned through witnesses that Gamiz De Leon had been shot on Blythe Street and transported to the hospital by a friend where he later died. Gamiz De Leon was 26 years old and a resident of Woodland Hills.

Detectives from Valley Bureau Homicide responded and investigated. Video surveillance captured two vehicles, a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser and tan Cadillac approach Gamiz De Leon as he sat in his vehicle.

An occupant from the PT Cruiser fired multiple rounds from a handgun, striking Gamiz De Leon.

Both vehicles fled on Blythe Street toward Van Nuys Boulevard.

Detectives believe this is a gang-related shooting.
