LAPD Press Release on Officer Cuesta 8/10/98
PRESS RELEASE (UPDATE)
August 10, 1998
We regret to announce the death of Los Angeles Police Officer Filbert Cuesta. Officer Cuesta was fatally wounded during an ambush attack on August 9, 1998. He was pronounced dead on August 9, 1998, at 3 PM, at Cedar Sinai Hospital.
Officer Cuesta was born in La Mirada, California, on November 11, 1971. He attended Saint Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs, graduating in 1989. He received an AA degree from Cerritos College in 1992. Officer Cuesta joined LAPD on March 21, 1994.
Officer Cuesta is survived by his wife Sylvia, his 18 month 1 daughter Samantha, and one month old daughter Sierra Rose.
Los Angeles Police Department and Officer Cuesta's family is currently coordinating funeral arrangements, however a date and time has not been determined at this time.
