LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Monday, August 30, 1999

On August 27, 1999, at approximately 11:00 a.m., 77th Street Area Patrol Officers responded to the block 600 West Gage Avenue in response to a call to investigate the condition of Mrs. Vangela Hayes, a female, Black of 39 years. At the location, officers met a co-worker of Mrs. Hayes who had gone to her house to check on her because she had uncharacteristically not shown up for work. At the time of this press release, there are no known suspects and no motive had yet been determined for the homicides.

The investigation is being conducted by 77th Street Area Homicide Detectives A. Bernal and R. Solarza. Anyone with information concerning the murder of Mrs. Hayes and her daughter should contact these Detectives at 213-847-1310.
