Drive-By Shooting Injures 8 Year Old

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Monday, August 23, 1999

On August 6, 1999, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a drive-by shooting occurred in the 2100 block of South Adair Street. Numerous shots were fired from an unknown type vehicle travelling southbound on Adair Street. An eight-year old male was visiting friends in the area with his mother. He was playing in the stairwell of a two-story apartment, located mid-block, where he sustained one gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to County USC Medical Center where he was hospitalized in critical condition. This shooting appears to be gang related. No suspects have been identified.
