Bus Crash in Pacific

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Wednesday, August 11, 1999

On August 10, 1999 at approximately 8:30 a.m., a bus owned and operated by Alamo car rental, was southbound on Aviation Blvd., north of Century Blvd., when it began experiencing brake failure. The bus sideswiped three-vehicles which were also traveling southbound. The bus then rear-ended a bobtail truck. The impact, forced the bus into a southwest direction, where it went up and over a Honda. The bus continued down Aviation Blvd. toward Century Blvd., where it entered the Texaco gas station on the northeast corner. The bus then struck and came to rest on top of a Chrysler vehicle, which was parked in front of the station's mini-mart. Several additional traffic collisions occurred as drivers were attempting to avoid the bus. There were a total of 16 parties involved.

There were nine injuries resulting from this incident. The extent of those injuries is unknown at this time. All nine individuals were transported to local
