Talvera Murder Suspect Questioned

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Thursday, August 5, 1999

On August 4, 1999 at about 11:15 p.m., John Talavera, age 26 went to 17001 Enadia Way, where he got into a dispute with John Schuller, age 26. The two argued over money that Schuller owed Talavera. The dispute escalated until Schuller pulled a gun and shot Talavera twice. Schuller fled and did not return for about 10 minutes. A Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Ambulance responded and transported Talavera to Northridge Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. When Schuller returned to the scene, Van Nuys Patrol Officers took him into custody and transported him to Van Nuys Station for questioning. The murder weapon has yet to be recovered.
