Saturday, August 12, 2000



"Drive-by Shooting Claims a Life"

Harbor Area - On Saturday, August 12, 2000 at approximately 1:45 PM, the victim was stopped in his vehicle at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Sanford Avenue. An unknown suspect driving a green sports utility vehicle, pulled up next to the victim and fired several rounds at the victim from the suspect's vehicle. The victim sustained several gunshot wounds during the incident.

Paramedics transported the victim to St. Mary's Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

The motive for the crime is unknown. The suspect and weapon are outstanding.

The victim has been identified as Alvin Washington, 43 years of age.

Harbor Area Homicide Detectives are handling the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 310-548-7621.
