"Armored Car Holdup Ends in Death"

Los Angeles: On Sunday, August 13, 2000, at approximately 2:30pm, Sectran Security Incorporated Armored car couriers, were making a routine money pick-up at Costco, located at 6100 Sepulveda Blvd. As the armed courier returned to the vehicle with the cash pick-up, he was approached by two males with automatic rifles.

One of the armed suspects yelled ," this is a robbery", and exchanged gunfire with the courier causing customers in the area to seek cover. During the exchange of gunfire, a second suspect began firing at the courier. The courier managed to escape injury and was able to run to the armored vehicle and enter with the money. A third suspect who was driving a white van picked up the two suspects and the three fled the scene.

During the exchange of gunfire between the suspects and the courier, five citizens were injured, one fatally, two critically, and two with non gunshot injuries.

During the course of the investigation, responding officers received information which enabled them to locate the getaway vehicle a short distance away. Officers were also able to locate a suspect who had sustained a gunshot wound to the left leg which occurred during the exchange of gunfire with the armed courier.

The injured suspect has been identified as Ramon Gutierrez, a 38 year old resident of Tijuana, Mexico, and has been booked for Murder.

Suspect # 2 is described as a Male Hispanic, 5' 11", 200/235 lbs and 30-35 years of age.

Suspect # 3 is described as a Male Hispanic, 5' 9", 160 lbs, and 25-30 years of age.

The deceased victim has been identified as Owen Alexander Wolf, a 29 year old resident of Studio City. This investigation is being conducted by Robbery-Homicide Division and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call 213-485-0780 or during off hours, 213-485-3261.
