"Drive By Shooting Claims One Life"
Los Angeles: On August 16, 2000, at approximately 5:30pm, two individuals were standing in front of a residence located at 5335 Huntington Drive, engaged in a conversation. Three male Hispanics in a full size white pick-up truck, stopped in front of the location, and one of the persons in the vehicle, fired several rounds from an unknown type small caliber handgun. The three individuals in the vehicle then fled the location westbound on Huntington Drive.
Both victims sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. One victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso and failed to respond to treatment. He was pronounced dead at 6:10pm. The second victim, a 22 year old male, received and was treated for a gunshot wound to the upper right arm and will survive.
The deceased victim has been identified as, David J. Landin, 22 years of age.
