Thursday, August 24, 2000



"Fatal Auto Accident Claims Pedestrian"

Los Angeles - On Wednesday, August 23, 2000, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a fatal auto vs. pedestrian traffic collision occurred on Wilshire Boulevard just east of the entrance to the Los Angeles Country Club. A driver westbound on Wilshire Boulevard struck a pedestrian running southbound across Wilshire Boulevard mid block. The impact knocked the pedestrian into the eastbound lanes of Wilshire Boulevard where he was struck a second time by an eastbound vehicle that did not stop.

Neither the driver nor the witnesses at the scene were able to describe the hit and run vehicle. The physical evidence at the scene and the condition of the victim corroborated the statements obtained. The victim is described as a male black approximately 40 years of age.
