Two Victims Survive Armed Attack as They Stand in Driveway

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday, August 29, 2000

"Two Victims Survive Armed Attack as They Stand in Driveway"

Los Angeles - On Tuesday, August 29, 2000, at approximately 12:20 A.M., Los Angeles Police Department Northeast Area patrol officers received a radio call of "shots fired" in the 2900 block of Moss Avenue. Upon arrival the officers determined that two male and two female Hispanics had been congregated out in front of the residence when they heard several shots. Shortly thereafter, the group realized that two of them (Victim-1: female Hispanic, 18 years old and Victim-2: male Hispanic, 17 years old; both of Los Angeles) had been shot by the directed gunfire. Victim-1 was shot in the forehead and Victim-2 was shot in the side. Fortunately, both victims were grazed only by the gunfire and were not injured seriously. Both victims subsequently received medical treatment and were released.

There is no description of the suspect(s) and or vehicle used. The incident is possibly gang-related and the case has been assigned to the Northeast Area Special Enforcement Unit-Gang Detail.

Detectives are investigating the possibility that the incident is related to an ongoing dispute between Victim 2 and another female Hispanic known to her. Anyone with information should call Northeast Detectives at 213-847-4263.

For further information, please contact Media Relations Section at 213-485-3586.

This press release was prepared by Officer Guillermo Campos, Media Relations Section.
