"Shooting Investigation in 77th Street Area"

 

Los Angeles: On Sunday, August 5, 2001, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the victim, Lateese Johnson, 23 years old was walking on the sidewalk westbound on the 2000 block of West 54th Street when unknown suspect(s) drove up in their vehicle (tan Oldsmobile) and stopped in front of Johnson. Suspect(s) approached Johnson and with an unknown type of firearm fired multiple rounds at Johnson. Johnson sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was admitted in critical condition. The suspect(s) fled southbound on Gramercy Place.

The motive is unknown.
