12 Year-Old Female Claims Abduction

Pacoima: On Wednesday, August 15, 2001, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a 12 year-old female claimed she was abducted from her apartment complex in the 12000 block of Allegheny Street. The girl stated two male suspects covered her eyes, restrained her hands, took her away from her apartment complex and forced her to consume a drug. According to the young girl, she could not recall anything that occurred after consuming the drug.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., the girl was found laying on the sidewalk on the 12100 block of Allegheny Street by a Good Samaritan. The girl had a scarf tied around her neck and a plastic bag over her head. The citizen contacted authorities, and the 12 year-old girl was transported by air ambulance to UCLA Medical Center.

Robbery-Homicide Division, Rape Special Section, was contacted and assumed investigative responsibility for the investigation. During the preliminary investigation, the girl made several statements inconsistent with the physical evidence. When confronted with the inconsistencies, the girl admitted she had fabricated the entire incident. The victim stated that she was upset with her parents and made up the story to get attention.

Robbery-Homicide Division, Rape Special Section, is continuing to investigate the incident. For further information, please contact Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.

This press release was prepared by Officer Guillermo Campos, Media Relations Section 213-485-3586.
