Sobriety Checkpoint on the Westside on Friday Night

"Sobriety Checkpoint on the Westside on Friday Night"

 

Los Angeles: On Friday, August 31, 2001, West Traffic Division of the Los Angeles Police Department will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Venice Boulevard at Walgrove Avenue in Pacific Area. The checkpoint will be operational between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. The purpose of the sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the amount of traffic collisions involving intoxicated drivers through enforcement and public awareness.

The Commanding Officer of West Traffic Division, Captain Stephen R. Jacobs, stated: "The traffic safety education aspect of the sobriety checkpoint will create significant public value for this event." The Officer-in-Charge of the sobriety checkpoint will be Sergeant Michel S. Windsor, West Traffic Division- DUI Task Force. Sergeant Windsor can be contacted for more information at 213-473-0222. The checkpoint will be staffed by personnel from West Traffic Division, Pacific Area, and the Los Angeles Police Reserve Unit.
