Los Angeles: On Monday August 5, 2002 at approximately 9:35 p.m., 32 year-old Patrick V. Washington and his female companion, 18 year-old Yvette R. Blue, were sitting inside a vehicle on the 1000 block of Leighton Avenue in Los Angeles.

On Monday August 5, 2002 at approximately 9:35 p.m., 32 year-old Patrick V. Washington and his female companion, 18 year-old Yvette R. Blue, were sitting inside a vehicle on the 1000 block of Leighton Avenue in Los Angeles.

Two suspects approached the parked vehicle and fired several gunshots at the occupants inside the car. Instantly killing both Washington and Blue, as they sat in the front seat area of the sport utility vehicle, the two Black male gunmen ran southbound through an alley west of Vermont Avenue and jumped into a waiting vehicle that sped away.

The motive for the double murder is unknown. Southwest Homicide Detectives are seeking information regarding two suspects described as Black males, 5’6"-5’10", thin builds and wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information should contact the Los Angeles Police Department's Southwest Detectives at 213-485-2417. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk, 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
