Police to Conduct Zero-Tolerance Task Force in Foothill Area

"Police to Conduct Zero-Tolerance Task Force in Foothill Area"

Los Angeles: On Thursday, August 15, 2002, dozens of Los Angeles Police Department officers from Foothill Area, Valley Traffic Division, and Valley Bureau Headquarters will focus on violent crime and community quality of life issues in an effort to reduce crime in Foothill Area.

The focus area will be bordered by Foothill Boulevard on the East, San Fernando Road on the East, Yarnell Street on the North and Hubbard Street on the South.

Operations will commence at 9:00 A.M. and will continue past midnight. There will be zero tolerance for traffic violations and criminal acts in the affected area.

Recent past task forces in other parts of the Valley have resulted in hundreds of traffic citations and vehicle impounds, and dozens of arrest.

Other similar task forces to combat violent crime and improve the quality of life will be conducted in other parts of the Valley throughout the summer.

For further information, contact Captain Greg Meyer, Commanding Officer of Valley traffic Division at 818-756-8722 or Captain Kris Pitcher, Commanding Officer of Foothill Area Community Police Station at 818-756-8860.

This media advisory was prepared by Public Information Officer Jason Lee, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
