"Detectives Investigate the Shooting Death of a Male Hispanic in Venice"

Los Angeles: On Friday, August 23, 2002 at approximately 7:30 p.m., 19 year-old Los Angeles resident Ruben Carlos Arango, was shot to death while standing in the street on the 3900 block of Berryman Avenue.

Firing numerous rounds at Arango, the suspect’s grey or red vehicle fled northbound on Berryman Avenue. Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Area Homicide detectives responded to the incident scene and determined that the killing was a gang retaliation murder. No suspects were in custody and a weapon was not recovered.
