This task force will emphasize the apprehension of Grand Theft Auto suspects and the recovery of stolen vehicles.
The target zones will be the Van Nuys Boulevard corridor between Foothill Boulevard and Laurel Canyon Boulevard, and the area encompassed by Terra Bella Street to Sheldon Street to San Fernando Road to Woodman Avenue.
Operations will commence at 8:00 a.m. on August 13, 2003 and continue to 4:00 a.m. the next morning. There will be zero tolerance for traffic violations and criminal acts in the affected area. Recent task forces in other parts of the Valley have resulted in hundreds of traffic citations and vehicle impounds, and dozens of arrests. Other similar task forces designed to combat violent crime and improve the quality of life will be conducted in other parts of the Valley throughout the year.
