Los Angeles: On Saturday, August 23, 2003, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Daniel Fitzgerald, a 16 year-old Black male, was walking home from the grocery store. He was in front of 655 West 104th Street when a Black male riding a black beach cruise type bicycle approached him.

There was dialog between the two, and then the suspect armed himself, and shot the victim once. The victim fell to the ground and the suspect fled southbound on Hoover Street from 104th Street.

Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead from a single gunshot wound.

The suspect is described only as a male Black, 16-20 years of age and the motive for the shooting appears to be gang related.

On weekends and during off-hours call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFULL, 1-877-529-3855.
