Los Angeles: On Tuesday, August 3, 2004, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the Office of Mayor James K. Hahn, and communities that make up Los Angeles, will join together to celebrate the 21^st Annual National Night Out.

This annual event heightens awareness and strengthens participation in local anticrime efforts and promotes police-community partnerships.

LAPD Stations from around the City have coordinated cook-outs, block parties, candlelight vigils, safety fairs, peace marches and community meetings with members of their Neighborhood Watch Groups, Community Police Advisory Boards or Volunteer Groups.

Attached is a list of activities, times and locations for the 21^st Annual National Night Out.

During the news conference, a candlelight vigil, peace march and special tribute to members of the Armed Forces will commence.
