Los Angeles: On Tuesday, August 3, 2004, the Los Angeles Police
Department (LAPD), the Office of Mayor James K. Hahn, and communities that
make up Los Angeles, will join together to celebrate the 21st
Annual National Night Out.
This annual event heightens awareness and strengthens participation in
local anticrime efforts and promotes police-community partnerships.
LAPD Stations from around the City have coordinated cook-outs, block
parties, candlelight vigils, safety fairs, peace marches and community
meetings with members of their Neighborhood Watch Groups, Community Police
Advisory Boards or Volunteer Groups.
Attached is a list of activities, times and locations for the 21st
Annual National Night Out.

During the news conference, a candlelight vigil, peace march and special
tribute to members of the Armed Forces will commence.
