Woman’s Body Found in Covered Bed of Pick-Up Truck

August 2, 2005

Los Angeles: On August 2, 2005, at 3:00 p.m., detectives from the West Valley Community Police Station were at a self-storage facility in the 20000 block of Sherman Way in Winnetka.  They were attempting to locate a vehicle that belonged to Brian Joseph Cullen.  Mr. Cullen is wanted for questioning in connection with the disappearance of 21-year-old Iryna Singerman, who was last seen alive on July 26th.  Detectives found a 2002 Ford pick-up truck, known to belong to Cullen, parked at the rear of the self-storage facility’s parking lot.  A strong odor was emanating from the truck bed, which had a solid, locked bed cover that concealed the bed’s contents.  Detectives forced open the cover and discovered human remains.  Further investigation disclosed that the body was that of a female, however due to the extent of decomposition, identification was not possible.
The body was removed by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office where efforts are underway to positively identify the body and to determine the cause of her death.
The Los Angeles Police Department is continuing the efforts to locate Mr. Cullen who is believed to have fled the area on July 26th, the time Ms. Singerman disappeared.
