Vehicle vs. Curb, Mailbox, Pedestrians

Los AngelesOn Sunday, August 7, 2005, at 1:27 p.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred at Victory Boulevard just east of Kester Avenue.  A 2004 Chrysler Sebring heading eastbound on Victory Boulevard collided with the south curb, then ran off the roadway and into a lamp standard, a traffic signal control box, and a mailbox.  The vehicle then collided with four pedestrians. 

Oscar Ambrosi, a 17-year-old resident of Van Nuys, was standing at the bus stop with his mother Gloria Ambrosi and sister Fatima Ambrosi when the vehicle struck them.  Gloria and Fatima Ambrosi were transported to a local hospital and treated for their injuries, but Oscar Ambrosi died at the scene.  The fourth pedestrian struck was Eduardo Tapia, a 19-year-old resident of Van Nuys.  He was transported to an area hospital, treated for minor injuries and has since been released.

The driver of the Chrysler Sebring has been identified as 50 year-old Hui Suk Lobit, a resident of Northridge.  She has been arrested for murder.  The passenger in the Chrysler Sebring sustained a fractured leg, was transported to an area hospital and has been released.
