Shooting at Watts Summer Festival

Los AngelesOn August 12, 2005, at 6:20 p.m., 19-year-old Joseph Randall was shot to death and a 13-year-old boy was shot and injured, in a gang related shooting at the Watts Community Center. 

Community members were celebrating the first day of the Watts Summer Festival at the center  located at 10952 South Central Avenue.  Mr. Randall and the 13-year-old shooting victim were among a group of people at the rear of the community center when rival gang members fired indiscriminately into the crowd.  After the shooting, multiple suspects ran away from the scene.

Southeast Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting and are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate the suspects wanted for killing Mr. Randall and injuring the 13-year-old boy.
