LAPD Conducting Sobriety and Driver License Checkpoint

When:
Saturday, August 20, 2005
Sunday, August 21, 2005
6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Where:
Manchester Avenue between Hoover Street and Denver Street

Who:
LAPD Officers from South Traffic Division

Why:
It is believed the majority of hit and run traffic collisions involve either drunk or unlicensed drivers.  Driving under the influence of alcohol is unacceptable behavior causing impairment, often leading to property damage, injury or death.  A driver without a license who operates a vehicle is subject to having that vehicle impounded.
