Parolee Arrested after Attacking Officers
Los Angeles: A parolee was arrested for violation of his parole after he assaulted police officers on August 13, 2006.
The incident occurred about 4 o'clock in the morning when officers were dispatched to a report of an aggravated assault at Selma Street and Wilcox Avenue in Hollywood.
When officers arrived, Buck Williams, 30, attacked them. During the encounter, Police Officers Justin Wade, 25, and John Negrete, 29, requested back up and fought off Williams with a Taser, baton, and a shot from a bean bag gun. Ultimately, Williams was subdued and arrested.
Doctors examined Williams at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital and held him overnight for observation due to a test result. The doctors could not determine whether the condition was related to drug use or the struggle with the officers. Williams also admitted to having had a fight with another person prior to the officers' arrival.
Force Investigation Division detectives will investigate the incident in keeping with LAPD protocols for use of force and arrestee hospitalization.
Officers Wade and Negrete are assigned to the Hollywood Police Station. Wade has been with LAPD for just under 3 years, and Negrete has been an officer for over 7 years.
