Man Stabbed to Death

Los Angeles: On Saturday, August 26, 2006, around 2:30 a.m., Rampart Area officers were patrolling the area of Bonnie Brae Street and Maryland Street, when they saw a green Jeep stopped in the roadway. Officers stopped to investigate and talk with the occupants inside the Jeep when they saw an assault in progress. The officers immediately intervened and took one man into custody. The officers noticed that the second person in the Jeep was covered in blood and suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Omar Canseco Bautista, 28-years-old, was arrested for murder. The weapon used was a knife and is in police custody.

The identification of the 35-40 year-old victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact Rampart Homicide Detectives at 213-207-2060. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free Detective information desk at 1-877-ASK-LAPD (1-877-529-3855).
